Abstract

Green technologies encompass various aspects of technology that help reduce human impact on the environment. This study aims to assess the actual impact of green technologies implemented in Aswan Governorate. Furthermore, the study highlights the challenges facing the application of green technologies, with the goal of achieving a healthy ecosystem that supports and protects the land from greenhouse gas emissions and safeguards the environment. Aswan Governorate was chosen for this study because it has the largest solar power plants, possesses unique natural resources, and boasts a prominent tourist and environmental significance. The study employed a descriptive-analytical approach, utilizing an electronic questionnaire designed to minimize unreliable responses and adapt to the surrounding context. The questionnaire was directed to 396 workers at major solar power plants in Aswan, such as Benban, Kom Ombo, and Fares; staff members in tourist hotels involved in sustainability practices and energy conservation applications; a number of engineers and environmental specialists engaged in recycling and environmental services projects; and several employees from the General Administration of Environmental Affairs in Aswan Governorate. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, and regression analysis using SPSS version 25. These analyses revealed a statistically significant positive correlation between the impact of implementing green technologies in Aswan Governorate and the benefits accruing to the governorate from these technologies. The study recommended strengthening infrastructure and increasing funding for renewable energy projects by utilizing solar, wind, hydroelectric, and geothermal energy to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and decrease greenhouse gas emissions.
